A deep dive into Mekotio – The financial fallout from data breaches – Fixing election security issues

This week, ESET researchers released their deep-dive analysis into Mekotio, a banking trojan that targets mainly Latin American countries and uses a SQL database as a C&C server. IBM’s 2020 Cost of a Data Breach report looks at the financial fallout from security incidents, finding that the average cost faced by breached companies is almost US$4 million per incident.
